February 23th - Jane Frost, Weaving
Jane Frost studied woven and constructed textiles in London and Scotland before working as a self-employed designer in the spinning and weaving industry for several years. She pursued her MA in Textile and Culture at Norwich School of Art and Design, where she had opportunities to travel and collaborate with artists and makers from diverse cultures. This included participation in the 2nd Moscow Biennale as part of a research project.
Jane's studio is in the Cambridgeshire fens, where the merging elements of sky, land, and water influence her artistic style and the size of her creations. Using natural, recycled, and adapted materials, she employs techniques such as drawing, stitching, weaving, and construction in her artwork. Her larger pieces are created using developing materials while following the foundational structures of weaving, spinning, and stitching. Jane produces individual works for exhibitions, presentations, and as vital parts of extensive collaborative projects with fellow artists and practitioners.
